Bastard Planet Bulletin 23/8/2013

bastardplanet:

Parents make up of some of our most valued allies and most hateful detractors, but we will never make a habit of focusing on parent content (white or POC, birth or adoptive). This community is for those whom adoption affects the most: adoptees and foster care survivors.

With this in mind, we’re going to start showcasing class bastard creations!

Many adoptees do not regularly post about adoption, and that’s just fine. We’re interested in promoting original content; bastards have intensely unique backgrounds and often tend towards unbelievable creativity and resourcefulness.

These also stand as rare, vital antidotes to the incessant oppressiveness of the adoption industry.

If for some reason we happen to miss your work, please SUBMIT your drawings, photography, designs, poetry, fiction, musings, music, and videos.

Or just send us a link and we will gladly boost your signal from the source!

Works in progress welcome!

Yours in global infamy,

Bastard HQ

THIS is White Privilege.
This is the price white people who appropriate blackness pay for committing numerous crimes. They get to be successful actors once they drop this “phase”.
Meanwhile a black person would get the most ridiculous of prison sentences for even one of these.
HE BLINDED A MAN. HE HAS A HATE CRIME UNDER HIS BELT. And he’s a successful actor.
Y’all need not worry about Justin Bieber. He’ll be just fine.
Unfortunately.

Two ways of dealing with tear gas grenades from comrades in Turkey: Either submerge them in water. Make sure you can close off the container cause the gas will still spread for a while. Or throw them in the fire so the gas burns off before it can spread.

Illegal over-drugging of Lakota children. Many Lakota children in foster care are being involuntarily administered as many as five adult psychiatric drugs every day, including: Zyprexa, Geodon, Prozac, and Abilify—all of which are not allowed, by the FDA, to be administered to children without consent from their parent or guardian. The use of such powerful anti-psychotic pharmaceutical drugs on Indian children by the State of South Dakota has, in fact, increased by over 1300% since the year 2000! Due to this, and other problems with state-run foster care, when these Indian children “age out” of the state foster care system in the State of South Dakota at the age of 18, over 63 percent of these children are, by the time they are 20 years old, either homeless, in prison, or dead. Children should not be drugged into submission and made to feel like zombies because they have been taken from their families and their communities. This must stop. Native Filmmakers Shoot Dystopian Drama on Pine Ridge Reservation

It’s 2085 on Pine Ridge. The reservation has been quarantined and borders guarded by the military for 30 years. Sparked by the ramifications of the Keystone XL pipeline, the war between the government and the insurgency lasted for eight years and resulted in the dystopian setting that provides the background for "The People," the inaugural project from Indigene Studios.

Based out of Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, Indigene Studios was co-founded in April 2014 by Willi White, Oglala Lakota, and Angel White Eyes, Oglala Lakota and Ojibwa.
“This is our way of giving back to our communities but also expressing ourselves,” White said. “Non-Natives always come here and sell the same narrative to the mainstream media. We want to change that narrative and give a voice to the stories that are already here.”

Please share this post and become a MEMBER at http://lakotalaw.org/donate-new to effect permanent change for the Lakota children. The Lakota People’s Law Project and the Lakota tribes of South Dakota have been working on achieving the permanent solution to the corruption of South Dakota’s Department of Social Services by rerouting federal money from the state and getting it directly to the tribes. For this to happen the Lakota tribes will have to overcome many hurdles and organize their own foster care and other family planning programs. Although we have worked on this struggle for over 8 years, we are finally breaking through and creating the system that will prevent Lakota children from being kidnapped by the state of South Dakota and taken from their communities. 8 of the 9 Lakota tribes have applied for federal funding to assist them in planning for the installation of these programs and the Department of Justice, in conjunction with the ACLU, has just released an amicus brief supporting the Lakota children and condemning the practices of South Dakota. The full brief can be read here: https://turtletalk.files.wordpress.com/2014/08/122-1amicusbriefoftheunitedstates8-14-2014.pdf Please help make this solution a reality by donating to help the Lakota children remain with their families!

Please Keep Sharing and become a Member at http://lakota.cc/1kvf8ka to help create a foster care system run by Lakota, for Lakota and end the corrupt practices of the state of South Dakota. The children of the nine Lakota tribes of South Dakota, over the past ten-year period, have been ten times more likely to be taken by the state than White children. Every year since 2001, an average of 742 Lakota children have been seized and forcibly removed from, not only their Lakota parents, but, indeed, from their entire Lakota tribe and culture by the State of South Dakota and “placed” in all-White foster care settings. Approximately 10,000 such Lakota children have, therefore, been essentially kidnapped from their Indian culture since the beginning of this century. Although Lakota children make up less than 13 percent of the child population of the State of South Dakota, they make up over 60 percent of all of the children presently in state foster care institutions and non-native homes in the State of South Dakota. Lakota foster care children are indeed “money-makers” for the State of South Dakota, which classifies ALL Lakota children as “Special Needs Children”, thereby authorizing the State of South Dakota to collect up to $79,000 per child, amounting to some $65 million in federal monies per year for the state.
